Oil and Gas Workers Association Endorses Chip Keating for Governor

The Oil and Gas Workers Association (OGWA) announced its endorsement of Chip Keating for Governor of Oklahoma.

“I’m honored to have the endorsement of the Oil and Gas Workers Association,” said Keating. “As Oklahoma Governor, we’ll dominate oil and gas again and partner with President Trump to usher in a new era of American energy independence. I know this industry and how to unleash it, and I’ll always put working Oklahomans first.”

OGWA Calls Keating “Best Candidate for Governor”

Matt Coday, the President and Founder of the Oil and Gas Workers Association, said: “Chip Keating is hands down the best candidate for governor. He doesn’t just talk about oil and gas. Chip and his family have hands-on experience working in our industry. Chip will bring oil and gas companies, jobs, and revenue back to Oklahoma. There is no one more experienced and better prepared to lead the energy revolution that powers the resurgence of the great Sooner State than Chip Keating.”

The endorsement places the state’s energy workforce organization squarely behind Keating as Oklahoma continues to navigate economic and regulatory pressures facing the oil and gas sector.

Energy Sector at a Crossroads

The endorsement comes at a pivotal moment for Oklahoma’s energy sector. In recent weeks, longtime Oklahoma-based companies Devon Energy and Expand Energy (formerly Chesapeake Energy) announced plans to relocate their headquarters out of state, raising concerns about the state’s competitiveness, policies, and future as an energy leader.

Those announcements sparked renewed discussion among policymakers and industry leaders about retaining corporate investment, protecting high-paying energy jobs, and ensuring Oklahoma remains attractive to upstream oil and gas operators.

Keating recently unveiled a proposal to establish a National Laboratory in Oklahoma to anchor energy investment, strengthen national security, and ensure Oklahoma remains a leader in American energy dominance.

Industry Background Highlighted

Early in his career, Keating worked at Chesapeake Energy and later built his career as an oil and gas businessman. The Oil and Gas Workers Association emphasized that Keating’s background, combined with his commitment to American energy independence and Oklahoma workers, makes him uniquely qualified to lead the state forward.

The governor’s race is expected to feature significant debate over Oklahoma’s energy policy, economic development strategy, and the state’s long-term role in domestic oil and gas production.
