Harold Hamm for Senate

While Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt has reportedly chosen someone other than oilman Harold Hamm to be the state’s U.S. Senator to replace Markwayne Mullin if he wins Senate approval to be the next Homeland Security Director, Hamm definitely has national support.

Economist, writer and TV commentator Stephen Moore wrote recently in his Unleash Prosperity newsletter that Hamm would be an excellent choice for the temporary position.

Some people have scoffed at this idea.

We’re a little biased because we’ve worked with Harold Hamm, the CEO of Continental Energy and the godfather of America’s shale revolution, for many years on energy policy. No one knows what energy policies work and which don’t better than Harold.

Oklahoma has an open Senate seat because the incumbent, Sen. Markwayne Mullin, has been tapped by Trump to run the Department of Homeland Security.

Harold would be filling an eight month job, but given that we are confronting a Middle East energy supply disruption, the Senate desperately needs someone from the private sector who understands oil and gas policy. Hamm has the technical expertise and 40 years of experience in energy markets. He knows fracking; he knows pipelines; he knows LNG terminals and permitting. He got rich doing it. Maybe he could help make the country rich with drill baby drill policies.

What’s wrong with seating a rare businessman in the Senate?

An article, "Harold Hamm belongs in the Senate because he's the right man for the job."
