US and Oklahoma rig counts unchanged from prior week

Unchanged…..rig counts in Oklahoma and the U.S. according to the latest rig count from Baker Hughes Co.

While Oklahoma held at 45 compared to last week, the U.S. total remained at 551. The U.S. count saw no change in the 409 oil drilling rigs active across the country. The number of gas drilling rigs remained at 133 and the miscellaneous count was unchanged at 9. The offshore count grew one to 18.

While Oklahoma held at 45 rigs, the count in Texas increased one to 230. New Mexico’s count dropped one to 101 and North Dakota remained at 26 rigs. Louisiana slipped by two to 39 rigs.

Kansas saw a decline of 6, leaving 8 rigs active, according to the Red Top Rig Report published by the Independent Oil and Gas Service based in Wichita.

Alaska added 2 rigs to reach 11 while California remained at 7. Ohio was unchanged at 13 rigs. Pennsylvania stayed at 20 and Utah saw no change with a total of 16. West Virginia continued with 7 total rigs and Wyoming remained at 17.

Compared to a year ago, the U.S. total is 41 less than 592. The decline included a loss of 79 oil rigs. But there was a gain of 34 gas rigs and an increase of 4 miscellaneous rigs.
