Drilling activity surged in Oklahoma and the US

Not only did the nation see an increase in its oil and gas rig activity in the past week, but Oklahoma saw a jump as well.

Oklahoma went from 43 rigs last week to 46 rigs this week, according to the latest Baker Hughes Rig Count released Friday. It compares to the state’s rig count of 45 one year ago.

As Oklahoma’s count grew by 3, Texas saw a loss of 3, leaving 226 active rigs in play. New Mexico was unchanged at 102 while North Dakota’s count grew one to 27 rigs. Louisiana also added one rig to reach 38.

The Red Top Rig Report in Kansas showed the count in the state fell one to 13 rigs. Colorado remained at 14 and Alaska’s count stayed at 9 rigs.
