Brine Act to be considered by Oklahoma Senate Energy Committee

Oklahoma Senate Energy Committee to meet - Oklahoma Energy Today

When the Oklahoma Senate Energy Committee meets Thursday, one of the measures to be considered is the Oklahoma Brine Development Act.

SB1930 by Sen. Grant Green (R-Wellson), would allow and promote the reuse, recycling and reclaiming of produced water. It would also encourage production and development of brine and solution gas and to provide for unitized brine and solution gas properties. The bill would also authorize the Corporation Commission to regulate brine and solution gas production.

Sen. Green’s bill would also control the removal of chemical substances contained in the brine such as bromine, magnesium, boron, chlorine, iodine and sulphur.

Casey Murdock speaks on the Senate floor.

Sen. Casey Murdock’s SB1929 targets made by utilities to landowners. The Republican legislator from Felt wants to require utilities to pay $2 a linear foot annually to the owner of land over which a transmission line is constructed.
