
The drilling activity in one oil and gas play in Oklahoma saw a jump of 5 rigs in the past week, reported the latest Baker Hughes Rig Count.
The state went from 43 rigs last week to 46 this week but the jump of 5 rigs was recorded in the Cana Woodford where the total reached 22 drilling rigs.
At the same time, the Granite Wash play in the state saw a decline of 3, leaving 13 active oil and gas rigs at play. Oklahoma’s Ardmore Woodford recorded a decline of 2 rigs but 2 are still active. The Arkoma Woodford added a rig to reach 3 total.
The state’s Mississippian remained void of any reported drilling, as reported by Baker Hughes.
The most active play in the country, the Permian Basin saw a drop of 2 to 242 active rigs. The Haynesville total grew one to 43 while the Williston increased as well by one, reaching 29. The Eagle Ford of South Texas was unchanged at 40 and there was a gain of one rig in the Marcellus where 25 rigs are actively drilling.
The Utica play saw a drop of one to 14 rigs but the D-J Basin remained at 9.
