Winter Weather Update
5:30 p.m., January 23, 2026
Extreme cold weather, including snow and ice, is expected across OG&E’s service area overnight and throughout the weekend. The southern and eastern portions of our service area, particularly Durant and surrounding communities, are expected to receive the most impact. Widespread outages are not anticipated this weekend.
OG&E Stages Crews and Materials
- Restoration personnel and materials were staged today in preparation for extreme weather. Crews are ready to respond, and should outages occur, they will restore power to customers as quickly and safely as possible.
- OG&E has mobilized approximately 1,000 personnel for this event, with 400 of those in southern Oklahoma.
Guidance for Customers
- We encourage customers to stay off the road once freezing rain or sleet begins. In addition to their own safety, cars hitting power poles can create additional, longer outages.
- Have a cold-weather safety plan, including checking in on homebound and elderly neighbors and family. Make sure devices are charged, gas tanks are full, and that you have blankets at the ready in vehicles. Find more severe weather preparation tips at OGE.com/StormSafety.
- A list of warming stations in the OG&E service area is available on OGE.com/WarmingStations for customers who may need to find a safe, warm place during this winter weather.
- Stay up to date by bookmarking OGE.com/StormCenter.
- While we do not expect anticipate widespread outages with this weekend’s extreme weather, customers in storm-impacted areas should:
- Stay away from downed power lines and anything they are touching. Assume any downed power line is hazardous and may be energized. Report a downed power line by calling (800) 522-6870.
- Avoid areas where OG&E crews are working so they can quickly and safely restore power.
- Quickly report and monitor outages by mobile app or OGE.com/outages.
