The man chosen to replace Oklahoma Corporation Commission Director of Administration Brandy Wreath is familiar with the operations of state government agencies.
Jim Marshall worked previously in executive levels at three state departments before he was appointed by Oklahoma Corporation Commissioners in December 2025 to serve as the Director of Administration and the agency’s Appointing Authority. As Director of Administration, he is responsible for the day-to-day operation of Oklahoma Corporation Commission that includes its four core divisions, two support divisions, an annual budget of $92 million, and more than 550 employees.
One of his first major public decisions was last week’s termination of the Corporation Commission’s Communications Director Trey Davis whose dismissal came a week after the commission fired Wreath for unknown public reasons.
Prior to being selected by Commissioners, Jim’s executive level experience in state government includes having served former Labor Commissioner Brenda Reneau as Chief of Staff, former Labor Commissioner Mark Costello as Chief of Staff, former Acting Department of Health Commissioner Jerry Regier as Director of the Integrity Task Force, former Insurance Commissioner John Doak as Director of Outreach and Human Resources, and current Insurance Commissioner Glen Mulready as Director of Operations.
Marshall earned a Bachelor of Science in Management of Human Resources degree from Southern Nazarene University, a Master of Public Administration and a Master of Arts in Economics degrees from The University of Oklahoma. He also earned a Master of Business Administration (Online) degree from Northcentral University.
He was elected to Pi Alpha Alpha, the National Honor Society for Public Affairs & Administration, Omicron Delta Epsilon, the International Economics Honor Society, and Delta Mu Delta, an International Honor Society in Business.
Jim’s Oklahoma roots run deep as his maternal great-great grandfather taught school in the Oklahoma Indian Territory starting in the 1870’s. His great grandfather was a circuit preacher in the Oklahoma Indian Territory, and his grandfather was born in Rolf, Oklahoma, Indian Territory.
