
Oklahoma’s oil and gas plays saw no change in the number of active drilling rigs over the past week, according to the most recent Baker Hughes Rig Count.
The Cana Woodford had the highest total of active rigs with a count of 17, the same number from a week earlier. The Granite Wash, a play that also extends into the Texas Panhandle, continued with a county of 16 rigs.
Oklahoma’s total rig count of 43 was unchanged from the prior week. The Ardmore Woodford remained at 4 rigs and the Arkoma Woodford total of 2 rigs was unchanged. The Mississippian continued for another week with no reported drilling activity, based on the Baker Hughes report.
The nation’s number one shale play, the Permian Basin saw no change in its rig count which remained at 244. The Williston in North Dakota continued with 28 rigs and the activity in the Haynesville grew by one to reach 42 active rigs.
The Eagle Ford continued with a total of 40 rigs. The Marcellus also remained at 24 rigs and the Utica count of 15 was the same as the prior week. The Barnett play in north Texas remained at one rig.
