Anadarko Basin drilling unphased by lower oil prices

Anadarko Basin – Oil Gas Leads

While Oklahoma’s Anadarko Basin might not have great oil and gas rig numbers compared to other shale play areas of the US, such as the Permian Basin, its drilling activity remains firm and unchanged.

The latest Baker Hughes Rig Count showed Oklahoma’s total rig count unchanged at 43 and the Cana Woodford and the Granite Wash remained the state’s most active oil and gas plays. The rig count in the Cana Woodford remained at 17 rigs. The number of rigs in the Granite Wash increased by one to 16 total.

The Ardmore Woodford was unchanged at 4 rigs while the Arkoma Woodford remained at 2 rigs. The Mississippian, which had seen one rig  for the past few months, saw a loss and now has no reported drilling activity, based on the Baker Hughes report.

Around the country, the Permian Basin total fell 3 rigs, leaving 244 still active. The Eagle Ford was unchanged with 40 rigs. The Haynesville count fell by one to 41 rigs and the Marcellus continued with 24 rigs. The Utica remained at 15 rigs while the count in the Williston slipped by one to 28 rigs.

The D-J  Basin remained at 7 rigs and the Barnett play still had one rig.
