A published report claims city officials in Coweta knew about a data center last year wanting to build in their city even as they told residents a request had been made but no discussions were held.
The Broken Arrow Sentinel reported the leaders knew a year before the public announcement of the proposed data center. The paper first reported about the proposed project when the city annexed 200 acres of land in early October.
Coweta City Manager Julie Casteen told the paper the city had only received a request for annexation and she did not indicate there were any discussions about its location. Two weeks later, flyers were distributed to nearby residents about the Project Atlas, the name of the data center proposed by Beale Infrastructure.
Casteen now confirms she was aware a data center was being proposed as early as May of 2024 when she signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement with digital infrastructure fund manager IPI Partners, an LLC later acquired by Blue Owl. Since the acquisition, the stock price of Blue Owl plummeted more than 40% this year because of a failed private fund merger, reported the Sentinel.
City council members learned of the project in the summer of last year and they too were asked to sign NDAs, according to Casteen.
