Regulators reveal non-public meeting discussion

The filed form revealing the meeting as part of a new law allowing commissioners to meet without complying with the state’s Open Meeting law, showed all three commissioners were present, Brian Bingman, Kim David and Todd Hiett.

Under the law, some closed-door discussions are allowed.

“A(6) – Discussing internal processes

A(8) – Receiving informational updates from Corporation Commission staff on the business of the Corporation Commission, as long as such updates do not pertain to pending legislative proceedings of the Corporation Commission.”
Pursuant to 17 O.S. § 180.13, Corporation Commissioners are exempt from and may discuss limited events between or among Commissioners, even if a quorum is present.  Commissioners are prohibited from discussing legislative (24 hour) proceedings, addressing appropriations of Corporation Commission funds, and taking any official actions.
