
U.S. Rig Count Rises as Oklahoma Holds at 41
National Rig Count Update
While Oklahoma’s rig activity was unchanged in the past week, the nation saw a gain of 5 oil and gas rigs to reach a total of 549, according to the latest Baker Hughes Rig Count released on Friday.
The national report indicated a gain of 6 oil rigs to reach 413 while the total of gas rigs fell by one to 129. The miscellaneous rig total was unchanged at 7. There was an increase of one offshore rig to reach a total of 19.
The U.S. count is 40 fewer than a year ago when the total reached 589. In the past 12 months, the number of oil rigs fell by 69 while the number of gas-drilling rigs increased by 27. The miscellaneous count grew by 2.
Oklahoma and Regional Activity
Oklahoma’s count in the past week remained at 41. Texas was unchanged at 226 while the total in New Mexico increased one to 107. North Dakota remained at 27 and the count in Louisiana grew by 4 to reach 46 rigs. Alaska remained at 9. California was unchanged at 8.
Colorado stayed at 13. The Red Top Rig Report published in Wichita showed Kansas remained at 13 rigs. Ohio continued with 13 rigs and the count in Pennsylvania was unchanged at 18.
Utah saw no change with a total of 13 rigs. West Virginia remained at 7 and Wyoming continued with 15.
