OKC Ice Delays Oklahoma Transportation Commission Meeting to December 8

Winter Weather Forces Rescheduling

Icy conditions in Oklahoma City this week forced officials to postpone the scheduled Oklahoma Transportation Commission meeting. The winter weather system created hazardous travel across much of the metro, prompting the Commission to move its monthly meeting to 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 8, at the R.A. Ward Transportation Building, located at 200 N.E. 21st St. in Oklahoma City.

The meeting remains open to the public and media, who may attend in person or watch via livestream.

Award Presentation Planned

Contractors to Honor ODOT for Weatherford Bridge Work

During the rescheduled meeting, the Association of Oklahoma General Contractors plans to present ODOT with an industry award recognizing quality bridge construction in Weatherford. The honor highlights ODOT’s continued focus on infrastructure improvement despite challenging weather cycles and growing transportation demands across the state.

Executive Director Update

Tim Gatz to Address Efficiencies and Funding Status

ODOT Executive Director Tim Gatz will brief commissioners on:

  • Recent agency efficiency measures

  • The status of the ongoing federal continuing resolution affecting transportation funding

Gatz’s updates are expected to help guide decision-making as the state navigates long-term budgeting, federal requirements, and statewide transportation priorities.

Major Contracts Up for Consideration

Commissioners will review and potentially approve several significant contracts, including:

  • A project to create new lanes connecting US-81 to US-62/SH-9 in Grady County

  • A contract for a controlled-access interchange on US-75 at Preston Road in Okmulgee County

Both projects aim to improve safety, reduce congestion, and support the growing transportation needs of local communities and commercial corridors.

How to Watch the Livestream

The public can watch the meeting live on Ustream. Viewers should ensure the volume is turned up on both their device and Ustream’s internal player. A recorded and captioned video of the meeting will also be available online afterward for those unable to watch in real time.
