
Oklahoma Holds Steady as U.S. Rig Count Slips
Oklahoma Rig Activity Remains Unchanged
While the nation’s oil and gas rig count declined slightly over the past week, drilling activity remained steady in Oklahoma.
The latest Baker Hughes Rig Count released on Friday showed Oklahoma’s count stayed at 41 rigs.
National Rig Count Drops by One
Nationally, the total rig count dropped by one to 548 rigs.
• The number of oil rigs rose by one to 414.
• The number of gas rigs declined by two to 127.
• The miscellaneous rig count remained at 7.
• The offshore total fell by two to 17 rigs.
Year-Over-Year Comparison Shows Decline
The nation’s count is 41 rigs below last year’s total of 589. That includes:
• A loss of 68 oil rigs
• A gain of 24 gas rigs
• An increase of 3 miscellaneous rigs
Texas Leads, Other States Shift
Texas continues to lead all states with 228 rigs, an increase of two from the previous week.
New Mexico’s count dropped by three to 104 rigs, while North Dakota held steady at 27.
In other states:
• Louisiana added one to reach 47 rigs
• Colorado fell by one to 12 rigs
• Kansas, according to the Red Top Rig Report, increased its count by two to 15 rigs
Other State Rig Counts Hold Steady
• California remained at 8 rigs
• Alaska stayed at 9 rigs
• Ohio added one to reach 14 rigs
• Pennsylvania remained at 18
• Utah continued with 13 rigs
• West Virginia remained at 7
• Wyoming held steady at 15 rigs
