New wind farm coming to SE Oklahoma

Southeast Oklahoma is about to get another wind farm, one revealed in a recent filing made by the Southwest Power Pool.

Overland Station Wind Energy LLC, a subsidiary of Invenergy Inc. is the developer of the project. According to the SPP, the project would be located near McAlester and involve 35 wind turbines, identified as 6.2 MW Vestas V162 turbines for a total generating nameplate of 214 MW. The project would also facilitate the interconnection of the facility to Public Service Company’s transmission system.

Overland Station wind Energy LLC  is headquartered in Chicago and email information was referred to the Invenergy Control Center. OK Energy Today sought further details but Invenergy but received no reply.

What information was provided in the SPP filing indicated the site would be in Pittsburg County and the transmission owner would be PSO. The planned commercial operational date is at the end of December 2030.

The SPP filing outlined some other details.
“Construct one (1) 345 kV line terminal, line switches, dead end
structure, line relaying, communications, revenue metering, line
arrestor, and all associated equipment and facilities necessary to accept transmission line from Interconnection Customer’s Generating Facility.
Install a 345 kV span from the Point of Interconnection to the PCO at Transmission Owner’s dead-end structure outside the Pittsburg 345 kV Substation fence as described in Section 8 of this Appendix A. Estimated Lead Time: 36 Months
$4,602,829, Total TOIF $4,602,829.”
