Rig count slipped in Oklahoma but grew nationwide

 

While the nation saw a gain of rigs in the oil and gas patches, Oklahoma’s count slipped.

The latest Baker Hughes Rig Count showed an increase of 1 rig to reach 549 including a gain of 3 oil rigs for a total of 417. The number of gas-drilling rigs fell 3 to 125 and the miscellaneous count increased one to 7. The offshore rig count remained at 19.

Oklahoma’s total fell one to 41 rigs, compared to 43 reported a year earlier by Baker Hughes.

The U.S. count remained 35 less than a year ago when the total was 584. The change in the past year included a loss of 61 oil rigs but a gain of 24 gas rigs and an increase of 2 for miscellaneous rigs.

Texas was unchanged in the past week with a total of 234 while New Mexico’s count increased 2 to 105. North Dakota’s total fell one to 28 rigs and Louisiana’s count increased one to 44 rigs.

The Red Top Rig Report in Kansas showed the state’s count of 17 was unchanged from a week earlier. Colorado remained at 13 and Ohio continued with the same count of 13 rigs. Pennsylvania stayed at 17 rigs and Alaska had no change with 10 rigs.

California’s total of 8 rigs was unchanged. So were Utah with a count of 13, West Virginia at 7 and Wyoming at 12 rigs.
