Oil and gas rig numbers increased across the US

While the number of oil and gas rigs across Oklahoma was unchanged over the past week, the count grew to 548 across the U.S.

The latest Baker Hughes Rig Count, released on Friday, showed a gain of 2 rigs for the national total. The number of oil rigs was unchanged at 414 while there was an increase of 3 gas rigs to reach a total of 128. The miscellaneous rig count fell by one to 6 and the offshore rig count was unchanged at 19.

Oklahoma’s count was unchanged at 42 rigs, down two from one year earlier.

Nationally, the total rig count is 37 fewer than a year ago when the count was 585. The decline included a loss of 65 oil rigs while there was an increase of 26 gas rigs and two miscellaneous rigs.

Texas recorded a loss of one rig to 234 while New Mexico was unchanged at 103 and North Dakota’s total remained at 29 rigs. Colorado stayed at 13 rigs.

The Red Top Rig Report published by the Independent Oil and Gas Service in Wichita indicated a total of 17after a gain of 5 rigs in the past week.

Louisiana’s rig numbers grew by 2 to reach 43 but Ohio was unchanged at 13 and Pennsylvania stayed at 17. Utah remained at 13. West Virginia’s total of 7 was unchanged while the count in Wyoming declined one to 12 rigs. Alaska saw an increase of one to reach 10 and California’s count grew one to 8 rigs.
