
The latest Baker Hughes Rig Count released on Friday showed Oklahoma with a gain of one rig in its oil and gas activity while the U.S. gained 5 for a total of 554 rigs across the country.
Oklahoma increased to 42 rigs while one year ago, the count stood at 44 active rigs. The U.S. count included 2 more oil rigs for a total of 419 while the number of gas rigs increased also by 2 to reach 127. The miscellaneous rig count grew by one to 8 while the offshore rig count was unchanged at 19.
Texas remained at 234 rigs while New Mexico’s count increased one to 106. North Dakota’s total declined one to 27 rigs and Colorado was unchanged at 13.
The Red Top Rig Report published by the Independent Oil and Gas Service in Kansas reported the state’s total remained at 17 rigs.
California’s count stayed at 8 and Alaska’s total of 9 rigs was unchanged.
Ohio remained at 13 active rigs while Pennsylvania’s total increased one to 18. Utah stayed at 13 and West Virginia’s count remained at 7.
The count in Wyoming grew by 3 for a total of 15 active rigs.
The nation’s count of 554 active oil and gas rigs is 29 fewer than a year ago when the total was 583. The decline included 60 oil rigs while in the past year the number of gas rigs increased by 28. The total of miscellaneous rigs grew by 3.
