Few changes seen where rigs are drilling in Oklahoma

Oklahoma went another week with no change in its active oil and gas exploration, according to the most recent Rig Count released by the Baker Hughes Co.

The state’s count of 42 was unchanged from the previous week although there were changes in the different oil and gas plays in the state.

The Cana Woodford saw its count slip by one to 20 rigs while the Granite Wash also saw a decline of one, leaving 13 active rigs in the play.

The state’s Ardmore Woodford remained at 3 rigs and the Arkoma Woodford continued with 2 rigs. The Mississippian continued another week with one reported active rig.

Around the nation, the Permian Basin’s count of 251 was unchanged. The Williston Basin remained at 30 rigs while the Haynesville count grew by one to 41 rigs. The Eagle Ford count dropped by one to 42 rigs.

The D-J Basin remained at 10 rigs and the Marcellus saw no change with 23 total rigs. The Utica also continued with 14 rigs.

The Baker Hughes report showed the number of gas drilling rigs in the U.S. grew by 3, reaching a total of 128. The number of oil rigs was unchanged at 414.
