TerraPower makes case for nuclear power plant in Kansas

Bill Gates and his TerraPower push ahead in making a case to build a small modular nuclear generating plant in Kansas, arguing it would be far more efficient compared to the Wolf Creek Nuclear power plant that was finished in 1985.

While Oklahoma is in the midst of studying whether it wants to pursue nuclear power, the Kansas Department of Commerce and the state’s largest electric company recently announced a memorandum of understanding with TerraPower to determine whether the company’s Natrium nuclear power plant might be appropriate for Kansas reported the Kansas Reflector.

A reporter for the news site recently interviewed Andrew Richards, TerraPower’s vice president of government affairs, to discuss how the Natrium nuclear power plant differs from Evergy’s Wolf Creek Nuclear Generating Station that went online in 1985.
