Oil and gas rig numbers remain firm in Oklahoma

 

 

Oklahoma recorded a one rig gain in its active number of oil and gas rigs operating in the state in the past week while nationally, the count was unchanged at 549.

The Baker Hughes Rig Report, released Friday, showed Oklahoma’s count grew by one to 43 rigs. The U.S. total was unchanged despite a loss of 2 oil rigs to 422 and the addition of one gas rig to 118. The number of miscellaneous rigs increased one to 9 while the number of offshore rigs went from 14 to 15.

The nation’s total rig count is 36 under the 585 rigs reported a year ago. The decline included a loss of 57 oil rigs but a gain of 16 gas rigs. Miscellaneous rig numbers increased by 5.

Oklahoma’s count of 43 compared to Texas where the rig total declined by two to 244. New Mexico added one to reach 96 while North Dakota was unchanged at 27 rigs. Louisiana’s count grew one to 38.

The Red Top Rig report in Kansas showed the state’s rig numbers grew by 3 to a total of 15 oil and gas rigs. Colorado remained at 14 and Alaska continued with 9 rigs.

California stayed at 7 rigs. Ohio saw no change with a total of 13. Pennsylvania’s count slipped one to 17 rigs. Utah saw a gain of one rig for a total of 11. West Virginia remained at 7 while Wyoming’s total fell one to 14 rigs.
