Streetcar Shutdown to Support New OKC Arena

The Oklahoma City Streetcar will pause operations from September 29 to October 27 as crews prepare the site for the city’s new arena project.
During the closure, Midwest Wrecking will install structural shoring to support demolition of the former Myriad Convention Center at 1 Myriad Gardens.

Officials say this work is essential to ensure safety as construction begins on the new OKC Arena, a major investment expected to boost the city’s entertainment and economic footprint.

Shuttle Buses to Replace Streetcar Service

To maintain mobility through downtown, EMBARK will operate bus shuttles every 25 minutes along the Downtown Loop during normal hours.
Passengers can board the shuttle at any of the 22 streetcar platforms, except the Century Center and Arena stops, which will close during construction.

Riders must still pay regular streetcar fare using the Token Transit app or ticket machines. Real-time tracking will be unavailable, and travelers are urged to plan extra time.

The Bricktown Loop will not operate during this period.

Road Closures and Thunder Game Shuttles

Two major downtown routes will close during the work:

  • Sheridan Avenue: Eastbound lanes from Ron Norick to E.K. Gaylord

  • Reno Avenue: Westbound lanes from E.K. Gaylord to Robinson

Thunder Game Day Shuttles will still run two hours before home games and one hour after. Riders can visit EMBARKOK.com/Paycom for updates.

Residents can also sign up for arena construction alerts through the City of Oklahoma City website.
