$1 Billion Data Center Project Launches in Owasso
Beale Infrastructure is set to break ground on a $1 billion, 500-acre data center in Owasso on Thursday, signaling another major tech investment in northeast Oklahoma. The project, known as Project Clydesdale, earned approval from Tulsa County Commissioners last month.
This week, Beale also revealed plans for a second large-scale development — a data center campus in Coweta named Project Atlas. Together, the projects demonstrate the company’s growing interest in Oklahoma’s expanding data and energy corridor.
Coweta Residents Voice Opposition to Project Atlas
At a public meeting this week, nearly 100 residents gathered to hear details about Project Atlas and share concerns about its potential impact. Several attendees brought protest signs expressing their frustration.
Resident Anne Cowles told the Tulsa Flyer, “The noise, the traffic, the disturbance of electricity and water. We have problems with that anyway without them being there.”
Two others, Kathy Foster and Cathie Hogate, launched a petition drive opposing the project, citing environmental and quality-of-life issues. Foster said the petition had already collected 260 signatures by Tuesday, reflecting widespread unease about the development.
Upcoming Meetings and Next Steps for Approval
Despite the growing opposition, Project Atlas continues moving through the approval process. The Coweta Planning Commission will consider the proposal on November 17, followed by a Coweta City Council vote on December 1.
While final approval remains pending, company representatives have expressed optimism. Beale Infrastructure expects to begin construction by spring or summer of 2026, aligning both projects within the state’s booming data and energy infrastructure timeline.
The dual projects are part of Oklahoma’s rapid transformation into a hub for AI-driven data facilities, a movement that continues to raise questions about local energy demands, land use, and sustainability.
