The company behind a proposed nickel/cobalt refiner.y in Lawton says its test operation is running smoothly and leaders are raising millions more for a full operation.
Westwin Elements recently completed a feasibility study that is going through a final state of third-party review. It will be delivered to city leaders and the Lawton chamber of commerce.
Brad Cooksey, president of the Lawton-Fort Sill Economic Development Corporation, told the Southwest Ledger,” “I can tell you that Westwin’s nickel/cobalt refinery test plant in southwest Lawton is up and running, successfully, and their employees have indicated they’re happy.”
Westwin is also in the process of raising money. Communications Manager Marissa Espinosa said Westwin has raised nearly $70 million from an estimated 170 accredited private investors to date.
