Water concern leads to vote against Buc-ees in Colorado

Buc-ee’s, the Texas-based travel center company that expanded its operations across the nation,  has been shot down by a Colorado city and the decision came down to water…not politics nor opposition to increased traffic.

The Palmer Lake Planning Commission voted this weeek against a flag pole annexation that would put a  Buc-ee’s travel plaza a couple miles east of the town, according to a report by Colorado Public Radio.

In the mind of one commissioner, water was more critcal in the decision. He feared if the city were to approve the travel plaza, it would drain the aquifer which is its main source of water.

Buc-ee’s already has one travel plaza located north of Denver along I-25 and propose a second location south of Denver.
