Ukrainian drones attack Russian refineries and crude prices went up

Ukrainian drone attacks that left more Russian refineries afire and operations closed sent crude oil prices higher on Monday.

The price reaction also came as President Trump urged NATO nations to stop all oil purchases from Russia. Reuters reported one of Russia’s largest oil refineries, in the northwestern town of Kirishi, has halted a key processing unit following a Ukrainian drone attack over the weekend, two industry sources said on Monday.

Global benchmark Brent crude finished up 45 cents or 0.67% at $67.44 a barrel.

The U.S. standard, West Texas Intermediate crude gained 61 cents or 0.97% and finished at $63.30 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Natural gas finished up $0.098 or 3.33% at $3.039 MMBtu.

It proved to be a tough day for Oklahoma energy stocks as most suffered losses.

Stardust Power and Vital Energy each had 3% falls for the day. Of those firms with gains, LSB Industries rose nearly 4%.
