U.S. reports increase in oil and gas rigs

 

As the U.S. recorded a gain of oil and gas drilling rigs, Oklahoma’s count slipped by one to 42 rigs.

The Baker Hughes Rig Count, released on Friday showed the nation added 2 rigs to reach a total of 539. The number of oil-drilling rigs grew by 2 to 416 while the total of gas rigs was unchanged at 118. The miscellaneous count was unchanged at 5 and the offshore total remained at 13.

Compared to a year ago, the U.S. rig count is 51 fewer from 590. The decline included a drop of 72 oil rigs while the total of gas rigs grew by 21. The nation’s miscellaneous rig count from a year ago was unchanged.

Oklahoma’s new count of 42 compared to Texas where there was a gain of one rig for a total of 244. North Dakota was unchanged at 27 and New Mexico added one rig to reach 94 total. Louisiana remained at 37 rigs.

The Kansas Red Top Rig Report indicated the number of rigs in Kansas fell by 3, leaving 15 total still in operation. Colorado was unchanged with 12 rigs and Alaska remained at 9. California continued with 7 rigs while Ohio added one to reach 12 total rigs.

Pennsylvania remained at 18 rigs. Utah stayed at 10. West Virginia’s count of 7 was unchanged and Wyoming remained at 13 rigs.
