Oklahoma’s Rig Count Holds Steady U.S. Sees Slight Increase

Oklahoma’s Rig Count Remains at 42

Oklahoma’s rig count held steady at 42 active rigs, while the U.S. saw a modest gain in oil and gas rigs last week.

According to the Baker Hughes Rig Count released Friday, the total number of rigs operating nationwide increased by three, reaching 542. The gain came from two additional oil rigs, which brought the U.S. total to 418, while the number of gas rigs remained unchanged at 118. The offshore rig count stayed at 13, and the number of miscellaneous rigs inched up by one to reach six.


National Trends Show Mixed Results

Over the past year, however, the overall U.S. rig count fell by 46 rigs. That decline included the loss of 70 oil rigs, though gas rigs climbed by 22. The miscellaneous category also recorded a slight increase with two additional rigs.

Regionally, Texas experienced a decline of two rigs, leaving 242 still drilling. New Mexico’s count stayed at 94, while North Dakota held firm at 27 rigs. Louisiana slipped by one to 36.


Activity Across Other States

The Red Top Rig Report for Kansas showed the state’s total rose by one, bringing the count to 16 rigs. Colorado also grew by two to reach 16 rigs. Meanwhile, Ohio remained steady at 12 rigs, Pennsylvania at 18, Utah at 10, and West Virginia at seven. Wyoming added two rigs to reach 15 in total.

Farther west, Alaska maintained nine active rigs, while California continued with seven.
