County leaders around Pueblo, Colorado want to keep their Xcel Energy coal-fired power station.
Regardless of how the rest of the state might be so heavily in support of Green Energy, the Pueblo County Commission has gone to the state’s Public Utilities Commission explaining it will seek relief from President Trump and Energy Secretary Chris Wright. It wants an emergency order from the administration to keep open the plant.
One unit of the Xcel plant was closed in 2022 and a second is slated for closing this year. The closings were scheduled to meet Colorado emissions standards.
