Two state agencies have launched an investigation into suspected polluted water that might have caused the death of nearly two dozen head of cattle for one rancher.
The plight for rancher Mike Loula is on his ranch along Five Mile Creek near the Caddo-county town of Eakly in the western part of the state. He’s lost 23 cows and two calves to what he believes is polluted water in the stream.
As a result, the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality and the Oklahoma Corporation Commission have started investigating possible sources of the feared contamination.
KOCO TV News reports the Corporation Commission has not only warned Loula’s neighbors but is monitoring nearby water supplies.
