One oil play’s loss in the state is another’s gain

 

The most recent rig count released by Baker Hughes revealed how one oil play in Oklahoma experienced a decline in numbers, another state play saw a gain.

Based on the Baker Hughes Rig Count, the Granite Wash fell by 16 rigs to 14 rigs. But, the Cana Woodford saw a growth of 2 rigs for a total of 17 drilling for more oil and gas in the western part of the state.

Another oil play, the Arkoma Woodford added its first rig in several weeks, reaching a total of one. The Ardmore Woodford remained at one rig and was unchanged from the prior week.

The Mississippi remained without any reported rig activity, based on the Baker Hughes report.

Other the nation’s other plays, the Permian Basin count was unchanged at 255 rigs. The Williston Basin in North Dakota, eastern Montana and Canada experienced a decline of one one, leaving 29 others still active.

The Haynesville went from 40 rigs to 39 in the past week and the Eagle Ford of South Texas was unchanged at a count of 39 rigs.

The Utica remained at 12 rigs and the Marcellus continued with a count of 24. The D-J Basin remained at 9 and the Barnett was unchanged with 2 active rigs.

There is no breakdown showing how many gas rigs compared to oil rigs.
