Oklahoma’s oil plays still see drilling activity

Oklahoma saw a drop of one in the latest Baker Hughes Rig Count but at the same time, one of the state’s busy drilling sectors saw a gain in its count.

The Baker Hughes Rig Count released on Friday showed Oklahoma’s count fell from 43 to 42 rigs. A breakdown of where the rigs are located showed the Cana Woodford count increased by one to 18 total.

The Granite Wash, another active play that stretches from western Oklahoma into the Texas Panhandle remained at 14 rigs.

The totals in the Ardmore Woodford and Arkoma Woodford were unchanged at one apiece. Baker Hughes reported the Mississippian remains without any rig activity.

Around the U.S., the Permian Basin total was unchanged in the past week with a total of 254 oil and gas rigs. The Eagle Ford of South Texas added 3 for a total of 42 rigs. The Marcellus remained at 24 rigs and the Williston was unchanged with a count of 29.

The Utica play added one rig to reach 13 while the D-J Basin continued with 9 rigs. The Haynesville remained at 39. The Barnett stayed at 2 rigs.
