Oklahoma family forced to leave home following oil leak

The Oklahoma Corporation Commission is investigating a possible oil leak that has already contaminated a house near Fort Gibson and forced a family to evacuate.

The Commission is attempting to determine the source of the oily mess that is leaking into the home of Mitch and Kara Meredith.  Plumbers were called but so far, no one has found the source of the leak into the home.

Finally, the family moved out and contacted the Corporation Commission. There are some questions whether the source of the leak might be a former oil well drilled in 1946 and plugged a year later. The site is less than 500 feet from the home.

News on 6 reported Corporation Commissioner Kim David was notified and Commission investigators have visited the home.
