
The latest rig count released by Baker Hughes Co. showed an increase of one rig for a total of 537 oil and gas rigs drilling in the U.S.
At the same time, Oklahoma’s numbers were unchanged from the previous week. The state’s count remained at 43 rigs.
Nationally the rig count included a gain of 2 oil rigs for a total of 414 while the number of gas rigs declined by one to 118. The miscellaneous rig count was unchanged at 5 rigs and the offshore rig count remained at 13.
The U.S. current rig count is 45 below a year ago when the total was 582 rigs. The decline included a loss of 69 oil rigs while the number of gas rigs grew by 24. The miscellaneous rig count saw no change.
Texas led all states with 243 after a gain of 2 rigs in the past week. New Mexico finished the week with 93 rigs and a decline of 2 rigs. North Dakota was unchanged with 27 total rigs and Louisiana stayed at 37. Colorado continued with 12 rigs.
The Red Top Rig Report published by the Independent Oil and Gas Service in Wichita reported the Kansas rig count was 18, a gain of one.
Alaska stayed at 9 rigs and California saw no change with 7 rigs. Arkansas had one active rig and Montana reported 2. Nevada also had 2 reported active rigs. Ohio was unchanged at 11 rigs and Pennsylvania continued with 18. South Dakota had no reported drilling activity and Utah was unchanged with a count of 10 rigs.
West Virginia’s count remained at 7 rigs and Wyoming stayed at 13. One rig each was reported in Michigan and Mississippi.
