Just as some residents of Yukon contend they have been kept in the dark by city leaders of plans for a $1 billion data center to be built on land sold by the city, an investigation by the Frontier finds the same is being reported across the state in other data center projects.
As the journalism group reported, “local local authorities also keep information private on which companies will run the centers and how much water and electricity they will use.”
Yukon wasn’t alone in keeping some information from residents. Leaders in Stillwater faced the same accusations over a data center there.
One legislator wants to explore the subject in an interim study at the state capitol. Rep. Amanda Clinton, D-Tulsa says she isn’t anti-data center but wants to learn more about the industry.
She has scheduled an interim study in October to get more information about utility usage at data centers.
