Regardless of the recent decision by Congress to limit tax credits for green energy projects, Evergy, the utility that serves Kansas and Missouri, is moving forward with some major solar projects.
Evergy won regulatory approval to build two solar projects in Kansas and Missouri. And it intends to meet deadlines to get the credits before they expire or are eliminated.
“The solar power plants that have been approved by the Kansas and Missouri commissions will be generating electricity for customers in time to qualify for the existing tax credits,” said Gina Penzig, Evergy spokeswoman reported the Kansas Reflector.
Evergy is also building two new natural gas plants in Kansas after it received approval from the Kansas Corporation Commission. The estimated cost of the two gas plants and the Kansas solar farm is $2 billion.
