While Google is planning to spend $9 billion in Oklahoma over the next two years on expanding its data center in Pryor and building a new one in Stillwater, the company is also venturing into construction of a new data center in Arkansas.

Google is joining with utility provider Entergy Arkansas to build a data center campus in West Memphis, Arkansas where the firm recently acquired a 1,178-acre site minutes from Memphis, Tennessee.

“We’re thrilled to confirm plans to build a data center campus in West Memphis, Arkansas,” declared Laurel Brown, Google’s regional head of data center public affairs.

The company stated it would “cover the full energy costs associated with powering this facility” while West Memphis city officials described it as a “multi-billion dollar” investment.

Google’s website shows six other data centers are in development across the U.S. including: Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Fort Wayne, Indiana; Kansas City, Missouri; Lincoln, Nebraska; Mesa, Arizona; and Red Oak, Texas.
