Water needs to get attention of legislative subcommittee

One of the growing concerns about the increasing number of data centers and proposed centers in Oklahoma is water.

Data centers consume large amounts of water for cooling purposes and it is a topic raised by some who question whether new data centers will end up harming Oklahoma’s water resources.

So some Oklahoma legislators plan to take a look at water needs in a growing economy. Members of the House Alpropriations and Budget Natural Resources Subcommittee plan a hearing on Wednesday, September 24 at 9 a.m.

The agenda includes the topic of “Effectiveness of Rural Water District Rules and Processes for Newly Formed Municipalities.” The discussion will take up the morning hours, then in the afternoon, the House members intend to discuss “Water Needs in a Growing Economy.”

The meeting will be live streamed via internet.
