Environmentalists in Colorado are so anti-natural gas that the state has become the first in the nation to require health warning labels on gas stoves sold in the state.

And it’s led to a lawsuit by manufacturers who challenged the law when it went into effect earlier in the month. They are asking a federal court to freeze the law’s enforcement and the Colorado Attorney General agreed not to enforce it until the court makes a decision.

A Democrat legislator who introduced the bill contended natural gas stoves are dangerous because of the noxious compounds they emit.

“It’s fair to warn people, especially if they have health impacts from [poor] air quality, to know what they’re buying in advance,” said state Sen. Cathy Kipp, a Democrat who cosponsored the legislation, reported Canary Media.
