Transmission line fought by some in central Texas

Another fight is underway against a proposed large electrical transmission line.

The battle is waged in central Texas where residents near the tourist mecca of Salado, a small town filled with attractions and restaurants along I-35. The residents don’t want a 200-mile 765 kv transmission line carrying power to the Permian Basin.

The line is part of a joint project byLCRA Transmission Services Corporation and Oncor and would not only transmit electricity to the oil and gas industry but to—data centers.

The line would begin near a solar farm in eastern Bell County and stretch westward to south of San Angelo. The transmission towers would be nearly 19 stories tall and spaced about 1,000 feet apart.

“It’s oging to affect our landscape, like these towers are massive, they’re gonna be seriously ugly said one rancher.
