Testimony coming on wind and solar setback discussions in Oklahoma Senate Energy Committee

 

 

The list of those who intend to have a say, pro or con, when it comes to a wind and solar setback discussion before the State Senate Energy Committee was released this week.

The hearing will be held Wednesday, September 3 beginning at 9 a.m. in Senate Room 230 of the State Capitol Building. The agenda, as released by the committee leaders includes a starting discussion proposed by Sen. Casey Murdock.

The list of speakers includes Oklahoma Energy and Environment Secretary Jeff Starling; Alan Anderson, shareholder and Chair of Polsineli’s Energy Group; Jim Roth, President and Founder of A New energy, LCC and former Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner; Destinee Weeks, Energy Professional, Oklahoma landowner, farmer and rancher; Mattie Daily, Oklahoma landowner; and Dr. Shannel Ferrell, Professor of Agricultural Economics at Oklahoma State University.

The discussion and comments are expected to take up the morning hours by the members of the Energy Committee.

Later in the day, the focus will turn toward the Oklahoma Energy Resources Board and comments are expected from Lisa Schwarz, Education Director at OERB; Steve Sowers, Environmental Director at OERB; Mindy Stitt-Dost, Executive Director of OERB.

The Committee agenda showed the final discussion will begin at 3 p.m. and focus on Human Biosolids Disposal. Sen. Randy Grellner will make the initial discussion about the “Biosolids benefits and potential regulatory challenges.” It will be followed by New strategies on biosolid reuse by Eden Technologies. The Department of Environmental Quality might also include a disussion on additional considerations.

The Energy Committee is chaired by Sen. Grant Green while Sen. Tom Woods is Vice Chair.
