A leak in the Seaway pipeline that carries oil from the Cushing Hub in northern Oklahoma into Texas resulted in a drop in the amount of oil flowing.
The pipeline’s operator reported a leak on the system to state regulators. The line normally carried 950,000 barrels a day from Cushing to the Freeport, Texas area where it connects to the Enterprise Crude Houston (ECHO) terminal, a storage facility in southeast Houston.
Enterprise, the owner of the line, confirmed there was a crude oil leak on part of the line in Houston on Tuesday. The information was filed with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
Sources told Investing.com that part of the line went down Tuesday night and might have involved a secondary line running into the ECHO terminal. Crude flows were lower on both the Seaway mainline and the portion hooked to the ECHO.
Enbridge and Enterprise Products Partners jointly own the Seaway.
The Seaway pipeline is jointly owned by Enbridge (TO:ENB) and Enterprise Products Partners.
Sources indicated the pipeline was expected to be fully operational sometime on Wednesday.
