Both Oklahoma and the U.S. held steady in their drilling activity in the past week as the number of oil and gas drilling rigs remained the same.
Oklahoma’s count of 43 rigs was unchanged from the previous week, according to the Baker Hughes Rig Count released on Friday. A year ago, the state’s count was 37 rigs.
The U.S .total was 539, same as last week’s Baker Hughes Rig Count. The number of oil rigs increased by one to 412 while the number of gas rigs declined one to 122. The miscellaneous rig count remained at 5 and the offshore total was unchanged at 13.
Compared to a year ago when there were 586 rigs, the current count is down 47. The decline included 71 oil rigs while gas rigs increased by 24 and the miscellaneous count was unchanged.
Oklahoma’s count of 43 compared to 242 in Texas where the count fell by one over the past week. New Mexico was unchanged with 95 rigs and North Dakota’s total of 29 was the same as a week ago. Louisiana saw a gain of 2 rigs to 36.
The Red Top Rig Report published by the Independent Oil and Gas Service in Wichita reported the Kansas rig count was 20, same as a week earlier.
Colorado stayed at 12 rigs and Alaska remained at 9. California was unchanged from a count of 7 rigs and Ohio continued with 11. Pennsylvania remained at 18. No change was recorded in Utah where there are 10 active rigs. West Virginia remained at 7 rigs while Wyoming’s count declined by one to 13 rigs.
