Oklahoma Corporation Commissioners revealed recently they met behind closed doors for another meeting that is exempt from the state’s Open Meeting Law.
Using the 2024 law adopted by the legislature, Commissioners Kim David and Brian Bingman met at 12:07 p.m. on August 7, a Thursday and discussed matters until 12:20 p.m. The Meeting Act Exempt Event Compliance Form was filed and made public on August 14, on the fifth day, the maximum filing period as allowed by state law.
“Such documentation shall be posted to the Corporation Commission’s website within five (5) business days following the event,” stated the law when it was adopted and implemented.
Commissioners David and Bingman discussed “legislative initiatives for the upcoming session,” according to the form.
Two other individuals attended the meeting that excluded the public. They were Louis Jackson and Erica O’Neal who are staffers at the agency. O’Neal is aRegulatory Assistant-Paralegal.
