
The latest Baker Hughes rig count shows Oklahoma is maintaining its active oil and gas drilling across the state, with no decline in the number of rigs.
Released on Friday, the Baker Hughes rig report showed a decline of one rig nationwide, slipping to 538 total. The latest figures showed a decline of one oil rig, leaving 411 still in operation while the number of gas rigs was unchanged at 122. The number of miscellaneous rigs remained at 5. The offshore rig count was also unchanged at 13.
Compared to a year ago, the nation’s total is down 47 from 585 and the declined include 72 oil rigs while the number of gas rigs increased 25. Miscellaneous was unchanged.
Oklahoma’s total of 43 compared to 38 reported a year ago by Baker Hughes. Texas saw its count fall by 2 to 240 while New Mexico was unchanged at 95 and North Dakota’s total fell one to 28.
Louisiana’s count increased by 2 to 38. The Red Top Rig Report showed Kansas lost 5 rigs in the past week, leaving a total of 15 active rigs. Colorado was unchanged at 12 and Alaska stayed at 9. California saw no change with a count of 7 rigs and Ohio remained at 11.
Pennsylvania continued with 18 and Utah’s total of 10 rigs was the same as a week ago. West Viginia’s count of 7 was unchanged and Wyoming remained at 13 active rigs.
