OGE’s line crews compete in the 34th annual Linemen’s Expo

Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company (OG&E) line crews went head-to-head in the 34th annual Linemen’s Expo, an annual companywide friendly competition showcasing its line workers’ skills and stamina. Families and colleagues were among the spectators cheering on the line crews who tirelessly help contribute directly to a healthy power grid, ensuring our customers receive reliable power, particularly during severe weather.

The Linemen’s Expo is both a competition and a celebration of their commitment to energize the lives of the communities they serve. The event kicked off with a flag raising ceremony with the sunrise as its backdrop. Teams of linemen then put their skills to the test in a series of strenuous obstacles and timed events ranging from power pole climbing to simulated injured worker rescues, all with safety in mind. Safety, teamwork, and extensive industry knowledge during the competition were on display as crews demonstrated their expertise, proving why OG&E linemen are among the best in the business.

“We have some of the most dedicated and committed linemen in the industry and it’s inspiring to see them compete,” said Andrea Dennis, OG&E vice president of transmission and distribution operations. “Each year, the expo brings our crews together for a friendly competition, helping families and co-workers appreciate the critical work they do daily. It also gives the linemen an opportunity to sharpen their skills while focused on safety during every challenge.”

The energy was electric as hundreds of line workers, family members and employees attended and volunteered at the event. The expo also featured a 5k run, a classic car show, grill master contest, OKC Thunder’s Rumble and entertainers, and a kids’ fun zone.
