OGE launches Power Educator of the Month to recognize and reward exceptional educators

With a new school year well underway, classrooms across Oklahoma and western Arkansas are buzzing with energy, ideas and the dedication of teachers who go above and beyond for their students. To honor these outstanding educators, Oklahoma Gas & Electric Company (OG&E) has launched its Power Educator of the Month program, a new initiative that recognizes exceptional K-12 teachers and provides them with meaningful support for their classrooms.
Throughout the school year (October-April), one outstanding candidate will be selected from public nominations as the OG&E Power Educator of the Month. Eligible candidates must be current, full-time educators – including classroom teachers, counselors, speech pathologists, media specialists, and more – who work at schools within OG&E’s service area.
Winners will receive a $500 DonorsChoose gift card to help purchase important classroom resources or fund special student projects.
“Education plays a critical role in helping students grow, discover their passions and develop the skills that will shape tomorrow’s workforce and strengthen our communities,” said Kelli Hayward-Walsh, manager of community outreach and engagement at OG&E. “By recognizing and supporting exceptional educators, we’re not only celebrating their dedication and hard work – we’re also providing essential resources they need to inspire and prepare the next generation to reach their full potential.”
Anyone can nominate a deserving educator, including current or former students, parents, families and fellow teachers or administrators. Click here to nominate an educator and learn more about the program details.
The Power Educator of the Month program underscores OG&E’s longstanding commitment to energizing education. The electric company has several ongoing initiatives that provide resources and financial support to students and teachers across its service area, including funding teacher projects and classroom resources through DonorsChoose, Positive Energy Scholarships and e-Smart Kids, a safety and energy efficiency education program. OG&E also provides critical financial support to the Foundation for Oklahoma City Public Schools’s Teacher Pipeline Program.
