The same week that Google announced plans to spend $9 billion in Oklahoma in the next two years, one of its projects, a proposed data center in Stillwater, received some early approval from the Stillwater Planning Commission

As reported by The Stillwegian, a news website, the commission signed off on a preliminary plat for an addition where the Google data center will be located on a 202-acre site.

The Planning Commission’s 5-0 vote means the project will be able to move forward to a final plat stage.

On Wednesday, Google executives were in Pryor to announce an expansion of the company’s data center that was constructed several years ago.

Business and community leaders joined Gov. Kevin Stitt and Ruth Porat, president and chief investment officer of Alphabet and Google, to discuss the impact of Google's new two-year $9 billion investment in Pryor, Oklahoma.

The firm intends to spend up to $9 billion on its operations in Oklahoma
