Texas is put on notice about electric reliability risks due to growth of data centers

Just as we’ve been stressing the importance of the reliability of electric generation in Oklahoma because of the growth of data centers for the AI industry, the same challenge exists in Texas.

And recently the Texas Public Utility Commission was handed a report showing the “disorganized integration” of large loads, including data centers is the biggest reliability and challenge facing the state’s electric grid.

Utility Dive reported how the new report from Texas Reliability Entity predicrted there could be 70.5 GW of new electrical load to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas by 2028.
